TRIO Grants Delayed—Immediate Action Needed
CTA Image

Over 2,000 TRIO grant award notifications (Upward Bound, Veterans Upward Bound, Talent Search, and Educational Opportunity Centers) have not been released by the U.S. Department of Education. This impacts nearly 650,000 students.

Instead of issuing grant awards by September 1, 2025, the Department granted a blanket “no-cost extension” through September 30, 2025. This is not a solution—especially for programs set to end August 31. Students and programs will face serious disruptions.

We need your help today:

  1. Contact your Senators and Representatives. Urge them to press the Department of Education to release TRIO grants immediately. Share how the delay will harm your students, programs, and communities.
  2. Ask them to sign onto congressional letters.
    • House: led by Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-WI)
    • Senate: led by Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR)

These letters close Wednesday, September 3, 2025, COB. Your action is critical to ensuring TRIO programs start on time and students aren’t left behind.
